About Me
My journey into therapy began with a charity, a carer's group and a belief that nobody should have to struggle alone
My first step into the counselling world
I began by training in group therapy with Beat, the UK's national charity for eating disorders. Soon afterwards, I became a co-facilitator of the Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders Carer's Support Group and it was a privilege to be involved with such a valued and much-needed service. The group continued in that form for 18 years until its funding was withdrawn and I valued every minute of the connections I made with the families who attended.
That work with Beat was the catalyst for everything that followed. I went on to gain a postgraduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, undertaking three diverse placements that gave me experience working in primary and secondary schools, higher education settings and a well-regarded local crisis service.
Following graduation, I began working in local NHS GP surgeries while also working for Northpoint Wellbeing, where I supported seven primary schools and one large secondary school. Alongside this, I started a private practice specialising in eating disorders. Over time, referrals increasingly came through word of mouth and I was fortunate enough to reach a point where private practice became the natural next step.
I am now in my tenth year of practice, dividing my time between Leeds and London. Each year has deepened my belief in what therapy can achieve when the relationship between therapist and client is built on genuine trust, warmth and honesty.
